KATHMANDU: Seven candidates are in fray for the post of Nepal Bar Association (NBA) President — the umbrella organisation of lawyers across the country.  Advocates Hari Krishna Karki, Prem Bahadur Khadka and Senior Advocate Ram Nath Mainali have filed their nomination representing progressive, democratic and revolutionary panels, respectively, for the upcoming NBA elections. Advocates Matrika Prasad Niraula, Ram Kumar Yadav and Madan Mohan Chaudhari are other candidates for the post. The election has been scheduled for January 9. Since the tenure of Senior Advocate Bishwo Kanta Mainali-led executive is coming to an end, the NBA began the election process. Hari Phuyal, Shaymjee Pradhan, Bijaya Prasad Mishra, Sushma Baskota Baral and Raman Kumar Karki are running for the post of General Secretary. According to the election commission of the NBA, 62 persons have filed their nomination for the 17-member executive of the lawyers’ body.
