ANLUS, an ad-hoc non-for-profit (proposed IRC Section 501(c)(3), was founded on June 19, 2006 by a group of Nepalese Lawyers present in the United States. The main objectives of ANLUS are : (a) To create a platform for Nepalese Lawyers and Law students for better academic and professional career in the United States; (b) To organize conferences, seminars and interaction on issues related to rule of law in Nepal and legal career; (c) To facilitate Nepalese Lawyers and Law Students in attending law schools in the United States and lobby for scholarship on their behalf; (d) To provide legal support, counselling and legal aid to the Nepalese Community in the United States.

- Assists Nepalese law students, and those interested in the law, with developing contacts with practitioners, for jobs and careers.
- Provides information to members on careers and the legal market in the US.
- Provides an avenue for professionals and other community leaders to take an interest in matters of concern to Nepalese Lawyers.
- Creates a solidarity towards Nepalese legal profession and rule of law in Nepal through establishment of awards, scholarships and fellowships from support of different US charity organizations.
- Lobbys for one law school- one scholarship for Nepalese law students/lawyers in the US

Association of Nepalese Lawyers in the United States (ANLUS) – initiated by Sirjana Sharma on June 18th 2006 around 9.45 PM in the evening (Texan Time), finalized by Santosh Giri at the same time (PT).
OBJECTIVES:
- Coordinate law students, lawyers and attorneys from Nepal who are currently in the United States.
- Conservation, development and modernization of our Nepalese Legal System through its own resources viz. law students, law academics and lawyers from Nepal and practicing Nepalese attorneys in the US
- Facilitating full or partial scholarship for deserving Nepalese law Students to pursue higher legal education in the United States.
- Perform legal research in the areas of human rights, Women Rights, Child Rights, Laws of Conflict, Armed Conflict, Racial Discrimination, Apartheid, Sexual Harassment, Gay and Lesbian Rights and Legal Education
- Research and prepare a neutral annual report of human rights situation of Nepal and make public
- To create a platform for Nepalese law faculty and law professionals, Lawyers and Law students for better academic and professional career in the United States;
- To organize conferences, seminars and interaction on issues related to rule of law in Nepal , human rights, rule of law and legal career;
- To facilitate pro-bono legal support and assistance, counseling and legal aid to the Nepalese Community in the United States from Nepalese Attorneys eligible to practice law in the United States.
